Understanding and Using Your Unique Leadership Style

Everyone is a leader with unique strengths and abilities to make a difference. In this interactive session, participants will learn about their leadership styles, put leadership skills into practice in a group activity, and have reflection discussions about the process. Youth will gain a better understanding of their natural leadership abilities and how they work best with other leadership styles.

What’s Your Why?

Young people knowing their “why” is an important step in figuring out how to achieve goals. Only when you know your “why” will you find the courage to take risks, stay motivated, and move into new, more challenging, and rewarding trajectories. In this session, young people will explore their “why” and how it connects to taking action in the community.

Youth Leaders on Board

This training supports young people in identifying their unique leadership abilities while providing them with the knowledge of the inner workings of a Board.

      • Creating a mission statement, norms, protocols, and policies
      • Meeting structures
      • Youth Adult Partnership

      • Engagement strategies

Youth Leadership: Leading Yourself, Leading Others

From public speaking to proposal writing, leaders must convey their messages concisely, confidently, and memorably. This session is designed to support young people as they strengthen their leadership skills and their authentic voices.

Taking Action in Your Community

In this session, youth learn how to go from investigating community issues to taking action. Youth gain valuable knowledge in the practice of service-learning, a process designed to engage young people as leaders of change on issues impacting their schools, communities, and the world. Youth leave with tools, skills, and knowledge to make meaningful change happen.

Introduction to Community Asset Mapping

This session introduces youth to a positive approach to addressing a genuine community need. Through community asset mapping, young people identify personal and community assets and strengths such as individual skill sets, resources, and services that promote connections or relationships between individuals, organizations, and communities. Participants gain a better understanding of themselves and the community they want to serve.

Climbing the Ladder to Meaningful Youth-Adult Partnerships

This interactive workshop engages young people in the evaluation and planning for youth-adult partnerships within their classrooms and afterschool programs. Youth leave with tools for meaningful adult collaboration and youth voice.

Working with Diverse People and Teams

You may know how to get things done by yourself, but what do you need to know in order to work with others, who may be different than you, to get things done? Teamwork! It’s all about working together.

The Art of Communication

From public speaking to proposal writing, leaders must convey their messages concisely, confidently, and memorably. This session is designed to help young people strengthen their public speaking and writing skills, and their authentic voice.

Youth Leading Youth

When you find yourself in a group of peers, facing an important decision or task, how do you step up to the leadership “plate” to get things done and collaborate with others?  This interactive session provides strategies to lean into leading with others, build bridges to get things done, and celebrate everyone’s contributions.
